In May 1960 the employees of Wadsworth City Schools in Wadsworth, Ohio founded a credit union dedicated to serving the banking needs of the city's educators. Chartered originally as the Wadsworth Schools Federal Credit Union, the financial institution was renamed the Medina County Schools Federal Credit Union in 1975 as they began serving all of the school systems in Medina County. Today the credit union serves all county residents and employees and has been renamed the Medina County Federal Credit Union. We met recently with President Pete Grimm, and listened as he offered this description of the credit union's services and offerings;

Medina County Federal Credit Union is a full-service financial institution offering our members savings, checking, and money market accounts, certificates of deposit, first mortgages, home equity loans, car loans, and IRAs. Our deposits are federally insured to $100,000.00 and our IRAs to $250,000.00 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or educates in Medina County.
